Volunteer for Convention Management Committee Needed
To all District 4 – C 5 Lions,
I wanted to share a unique opportunity to participate on a committee that serves at the state level. This committee position is an Area 1, which includes our District as well as C 1 and A 1.
The open position is with the Convention Management Committee. If you like to put together events, and work with a team of Lions to have things go smoothly, then this committee may be the ticket for you. Unlike most open California-wide committee positions, the commitment would only be for 2 years. As an extra bonus, you would not be assuming the Chair position the following year. How fun would it be part of the preparations for the 2018 MD-4 Convention in San Diego! There is a commitment to attend the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Council of Governors meetings, which may seem excessive, but is worth the time to make the California Lions Convention a success. Those of you who were able to attend the Convention held in Redding in February saw the benefits of careful planning.
If interested in this position or if you would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me either by email at sahadev.kumar@gmail.com or by calling my cell phone at 916 337 0914. Don’t be afraid that you aren’t a “mucky muck” to be considered for this position. New ideas and approaches are sought and valued.
Yours in Lionism,
DG Kumar Kalagara, District 4 C 2
What’s a Guiding Lion?
The Guiding Lion helps lead or guide a new club through the process of becoming a successful club.
The first two years is the most critical time for a new club. District governors are encouraged to appoint two guiding Lions, preferably Certified Guiding Lions, to:
- Guide the new club through its first 2 years of operation
- Orient and train new club officers
- Motivate and support the new club growth
Have you thought about wanting to help a new club get on their feet and to help them be successful?
If so, there is a training program available to do just that.
